When You Want To Witch But Your Bandwidth Is Low AF
A Super Simple Ritual For Low Spoon Times
A 2 minute ritual that you can dress up or dress down as much as you need.Β
December asks a lot of us. (For some of us, itβs too much), your energyβs thin, the days are full, and even the simplest things can feel heavier than usual. I get it β truly.Β
Having fibromyalgia and CIDP (rare-ish auto immune disorder thatβs taken away my ability to walk independently) means my days are up and down. Day to day, hour to hour. It shifts, changes, moves, never stays in the same place or at the same intensity. Itβs exhausting. And then there is literally everything else about life thatβs heaped on top. Yeah, exhausting.
So hereβs the one ritual from the December calendar that gives you the biggest shift for the smallest effort.
Itβs the ritual created for those moments when everything feels like βtoo much,β but a part of you still craves a tiny touch of magic.
Itβs simple. Itβs gentle. It works.
And yes β it really does take less than 3 minutes.
β¨ What you need:
-
One candle β any candle (tea light, birthday candle, a half-burned candle sitting by your altarβ¦ anything you have. Or donβt use the candle at all.
You can use an LED candle or skip the candle completely andΒ just do the breathing. It still counts
- A lighter or matches - no lighter or matches? Or have zero f*cks to move and find them? Thatβs alright, no biggie. Pass on it. Breathing it is.
- 3 breaths
Thatβs it. Weβre keeping things easy as heck because in reality, our ancestor-witches werenβt keeping candles and lighters with them. They used the very basic-basics and their intentions and outcomes were just as powerful.
β¨ The soft, simple process:
1. Light your candle
Whatever you have is perfect β whatever you donβt have is perfect.Β
No candle? Visualise it. We know how potent the power of visualisation is, so use it! Another suggestion is to draw a candle on paper, use this as an example
2. Take three slow breaths
In for 4 counts β hold for 4 β out for 4.
Repeat three times. Let your shoulders drop a little.
Or a lot.
How much tension are you holding in? Time to release that shit and lighten the load.
3. Say this (aloud or silently):
βIβm here. Iβm present. Iβm showing up. My efforts are enough.β
4. Sit with the flame for 30 seconds to 2 minutes
Just be. Let your thoughts drift without grabbing onto them. Youβre not trying to βachieveβ anything β youβre simply resting inside a moment of presence. Youβre a witness, an observer.Β
If visualising, either use your mindβs eye to see the flame and feel the warmth. Allow your thoughts to drift.
5. Blow out the candle. A super important step if you used a very real candle. Fire safety 101 can not be emphasised enough.
If visualising, see the flame blown out. See the trails of smoke curl around.Β
Thereβs no wrong way to close this ritual. There is no witchcraft police. No grey haired older men who are the witchcraft committee or witchcraft version of the HOA (omg, imagine how that would go down!)
Youβre done.
This ritual works because it honours your real capacity. It sees you right where youβre at and meets you there. Just as you show up and meet it.Β
Showing up is the magic.
Β
Even if today, βshowing upβ is only three breaths and a tiny flame.
Β
Always in your corner (even on the low bandwidth days),
